Fitmate is an Australian fitness platform offering access to a network of gyms, studios and recovery spaces through one membership. The app needed to make finding, booking and checking in feel simple from the very first tap.
Fitmate set out to give people a more flexible way to stay active, with one membership covering many gyms and studios. The app would sit at the heart of that promise, so every screen had to make choice and convenience feel natural.
Research began with the people Fitmate wanted to serve: shift workers, frequent travelers and professionals with full calendars. Their routines shaped the brief for an app built around location, timing and quick decisions on the go.
Across every interview, one pattern stood out. Work, travel and family now shape people’s days in constantly changing ways, while most gym memberships still center on one location and one timetable. The real opening was flexibility.
That gap became Fitmate’s opportunity: one membership that follows people across the city, supported by an app that makes moving between gyms, classes and suburbs feel as natural as checking a map on the way out the door.
For members, the gym is no longer a fixed address. A lawyer flying interstate, a nurse finishing a late shift or a parent with a free lunch hour can find something nearby and be training within minutes.
That freedom changes how people feel about fitness. Variety keeps routines fresh, trying a new studio feels like an adventure rather than a commitment, and training becomes a part of the day people genuinely look forward to.
The app and website launched with a clear, confident identity that members recognize instantly. Its consistent design gives the team a strong base for welcoming new partners, cities and experiences as the community continues to grow.
Today, members train across gyms, studios, run clubs and recovery spaces with one membership, alongside partners such as BFT, One Hot Yoga and Bondi Gym. The launch also earned coverage in Marie Claire and Australian Leisure Management.
